Prochnow Auditorium Venue Manager, A/V Tech, Staffing & Training Consultant
Both my events and management career began in February 2019 with SUN Entertainment, as I was hired to lead Prochnow Auditorium through a transitional period of changing leadership within the university. After my initial 90 days of training, I was put fully in charge the venue and staff, and used that responsibility to improve the efficiency, organization, and morale of our day-to-day operations. During my time at Prochnow, I led my team through multiple sold-out musical and comedy performances, aerial art performances, weekly movie showings, regional environmental and professional conferences, and new student orientations.
Managed concerts for the likes of: Japanese Breakfast, Bishop Briggs, Hunter Hayes, Sashami, and more!
My team and I with Angela Kinsey from The Office after her Q&A!
We also held showcases for the likes of Momentum Aerial where I often helped stage manage!
One of our most most successful movie showings -- filled with about 850 attendees!
I worked with a great team over the years! Here's a photo we took with Ben & Jerry after my first event with SUN
I also hosted many conferences, student orientations, and guest speakers during my time there, too!
In Fall of 2021, I was brought back to help train a new generation of staff after the pandemic. I trained the entirely new team from the ground up, focusing on the importance of order and attention to detail when prepping for, running, and cleaning up after an event, as well as promoting two women into leadership positions and focusing more on the importance of strong leadership with a vision -- and I'm proud to have seen them both thrive in their roles.
This position is also what cemented in me the idea that preparation is far more important than organization. Working in such an old building, Murphy's Law of "if something can go wrong, it will" was always in effect, so we had to make sure everything was working each day and that we were prepared for the stage lights to shut down during a play or maybe have a fire alarm start blaring in the middle of a concert (both of which actually happened -- and thankfully no one got hurt either time). In every event I've ever done, being prepared has let me work through every problem, no matter how organized things are "supposed" to go. This job was a blast and taught me so much.Â
